History of the Future. Archetypes of Plečnik’s Architecture
The book HISTORY OF THE FUTURE: Archetypes of Plečnik’s Architecture presents a collection of photographs and axonometric drawings of abstract models made out of wood, epoxy resin, and plaster – the so-called archetypes. These models, created by students of the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Ljubljana under the mentorship of Prof. Jurij Sadar, Asst. Ana Kreč, and Technical Associate Lovrenc Kolenc, encapsulate the ideas of select examples from Plečnik’s architecture.
By presenting these models as three-dimensional archetypal objects, they developed a rich, universal, and distinctly recognisable architectural vocabulary that inspired the design of new projects. The archetypes, interweaving past and present, are presented in the book as stand-alone artefacts in a "cabinet of curiosities”, free from the weight of an architectural project and captured through the photographic lens of Matevž Paternoster. Accompanying texts were written by Prof. Dr. Aleš Vodopivec, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Peter Šenk, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Miloš Kosec. The book was co-published by the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana and the University of Ljubljana's Faculty of Architecture (FA-ZA Publishing House) as part of the Proces Collection.
